Microsoft have slashed the price of the Surface Book by 17% in their official UK store in the run up to Black Friday weekend and in the wake of the Surface Book 2 launch.
Online shoppers in the UK have seen the price of the original Surface Book drop on the official Microsoft store. The base model, which features an Intel i5 processor, 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, is available for £1,199. This is a £250 price drop from its previous price.
What’s more, the Performance Base model of the Surface Book has been discounted by £449. This upgraded model has an Intel i7 processor, 256GB of storage, 8GB of RAM and a more powerful NVIDIA GeForce GPU.
We’re yet to see similar discounts in the US Microsoft store on either Surface Book model. Although over on Amazon US shoppers have witnessed the price of the base model Surface Book fall considerably in recent months. The graph below shows the price of the base model Surface Book on Amazon.com since July 2017.
Falling $250 in a matter of months is no surprise when considered in the context of the upcoming Surface Book 2 release.
The new Surface Book 2
Earlier this month Microsoft revealed two new models of the Surface Book 2, the long awaited update to the Surface Book.
They’ve got some serious spec upgrades on the original with highlights including:
- 8th Generation Intel i5/i7 processors
- Advanced NVIDIA GPUs
- Up to 17 hours battery life
Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until mid November before the new Surface Book 2 models start shipping.
In the meantime, we’re seeing the price of the Surface Book drop considerably and we expect to see it continue tumbling as we head towards Black Friday sales week.
